Last week as M and I were enjoying an evening at a friends’ house (something we don’t do often enough), I caught a glimpse of a set of 10 little statements, mantras almost, clipped from a new agey magazine and hanging in her kitchen. My first impulse was to tease, but then I started reading […]

This month’s selection of the Barren B*tches Book Brigade is AM Home’s memoir, The Mistress’s Daughter. And it is a prime example of how the number of pages or words doesn’t necessarily correlate with the length of time a book can linger in one’s mind. I probably finished The Mistress’ Daughter the day after I […]

Sometimes there are events or scenarios that give me pause, make me rethink this whole “having a baby” thing.
This weekend was host to one of those scenarios.
Not the main event - that was a baptism of one of our family members. That portion of the weekend was very nice and family-affirming, even with a mandatory […]

I have to admit, I have been sweating about this article in the most recent New Atlantis ever since I was interviewed for it several months ago. It felt like I rambled. Did I ramble? Some questions felt loaded. Am I being baited? Did I take the bait? What’s the bait? What’s the desired […]

I hope […]

I just wish I had better news to share.
We learned this morning that our FET ended in a BFN (big negative. You fill in the middle)
So, our journey towards parenthood continues. Not quite sure which direction we will head next. Or when.
But fear not, Fertility Notes forges […]

Melissa sums it up so nicely in a recent post for BlogHer:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the hope before the storm, it was the tears fought back before the fall, it was after a three-day transfer, it was during a natural cycle, it was the whiteness […]

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE OBSESSED WITH BEING PREGNANT AND IT IS NOT HEALTHY TO BE OBSESSED WITH ANYTHING. Agreed.
I have friend’s who lost EVERYTHING because SHE wanted to be pregnant so bad….a homeless shelter is no place to raise a child and that’s almost where they were. I’m sorry to hear about your friend, […]

Raise your hand if you have had this said to you:
Ok, now raise your hand with a certain finger extended if you had it said to you by a nurse in your ob/gyn office as you were there for one of the many mandatory pokes and tests used to determine fertility.
Oh yes, ladies. This was […]
