The Conquer Childhood Cancer Act

by Gabrielle on April 22nd, 2008

Last year, a bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives introduced the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act, a piece of legislation which would provide critical resources for the treatment, prevention and cure of childhood cancer.

According to www.CureSearch.org,

more than 12,500 children who are diagnosed with cancer each year. Over 40,000 children and adolescents currently are being treated for childhood cancers. Reach the Day

This summer, you can show your support for this legislation and other preventive measures meant to end childhood cancer at CureSearch Reach the Day Conquer Childhood Cancer weekend, which will be held in Washington, DC on June 22-24 and observed with activities across the country.

Why are you reading about this at Fertility Notes? Because infertility and fertility issues are common long-term effects of radiation and chemotherapy, especially when treatments occur during or before puberty. Cancer can be cured, but the shadows cast by the cure are long and lasting.

Are you too far away from DC? CureSearch encourages local Reach the Day events. Have just a few minutes, you can write your Senator and ask him or her to support the Childhood Cancer Act right here. I did. It was easy.
