Fertility Testing Kits or a Fancy Glass of Wine? Hmmm….
There is no dearth of options when it comes to home fertility tests. Tests for you, for your partner. Little kits to help you determine the time and date when your odds of making babies are the most fertile. How strong are his sperm? How viscous your pathway? How many eggs do you have left? One might be lulled into thinking that kits like these are the answers to all of your conceivable problems.
And for some, they might be. But experts quoted in recent articles in The Sun and the Daily Mail are encouraging couples trying to conceive to resist relying on pricey kits and
“…spend their money on seeing a professional. Failing that they should go and have a romantic meal out and a good bottle of wine.”
Professor David Baird, professor of reproductive health at Edinburgh University, argued that while fertility kits could give couples an estimate of the number of eggs a woman has in reserve, they can’t measure quality:
“A woman’s chronological age is a better predictor of fertility. Most people know their birth date. That is something that doesn’t cost anything!”
While a romantic dinner and a good glass of wine won’t help those of us sans eggs to conceive, it’s certainly not a bad idea to consider on a beautiful spring evening like tonight.
And for those of you willing to try this experiment and planning a summer trip anyway, there are always procreation vacations to make sure you are focused, I mean relaxed enough to up your odds.
