The Economic Times reports today that Laptops May Affect Male Fertility. More specifically, resting your heat-generating laptop on your lap (exactly like I am doing right now) raises the risk of infertility in men.
Prof Sheynkin and his fellow researchers at the State University of New York came to the conclusion after studying 29 healthy young men aged between 21 and 35 for two, one-hour sessions in a climate-controlled room.
Now here’s where I wonder if participants really knew what study they were signing up for:
The men’s scrotal temperature was recorded every three minutes. The temperature on the bottom of the working laptops was also monitored.
I wonder how uncomfortable it is to have your scrotal temperature monitored every time you type a few sentences? I am pretty sure that my spellcheck would be working overtime if someone were paying attention to my genitalia as I wrote.
