No Pressure….

Those of us attempting to conceive are no strangers to time lines, deadlines, dates and cycles. As if there wasn’t enough self-inflicted pressure brought to bear on making babies – can you imagine if you felt as if the state of your nation were resting on your loins?
Last week, the entire Russian region of Ulyanovsk enjoyed a day off work, not to commemorate an historical event or celebrate a local fair. No! Ulyanovsk Gov. Sergei Morozov decreed Sept. 12 a Day of Conception so everyone had ample time to sow the seeds of the first baby to be born on Russia’s Independence Day – June 12th.
This is the third annual Day of Conception, an idea which was conceived as a way to counter declining birth rates and population density. And it’s working. The region’s birth rate has jumped by 4.5%.
